utilities to make this and related maintenance simpler.

Have you collected a bunch of Favorites over the years? Chances are that some of your "Favorites" no longer exist. AM-Deadlink is a fast way to weed out those websites that are no longer valid, because it checks all of the sites that are in your Favorites and reports back their status. You can then sort by Status, finding all of the sites that no longer work. All you have to do is highlight the range of bad links, hit the Delete key, confirm their deletion, and your Favorites folder is up-to-date. You can also sort by name and weed out the duplicate entries that exist. |

DoubleKiller is a useful utility that searches your system for identical files, either with the help of a CRC32-checksum-calculation or by simply comparing the filenames. It presents a list of all duplicate files found and allows the user to decide which files should be deleted or moved. It even allows for the exclusion of specific files, such as DLLs, to avoid confusion. Although a very basic application, it works quite well. |

Total Commander is a shareware file manager for Windows. It offers the same as Explorer functionality plus adds the ability to compare files, find duplicates and synchronize directories. It also lets you handle archives (ZIP, ARJ, LZH, RAR, UC2, TAR, GZ, CAB, ACE), rename groups of files and encode (and of course decode) files in UUE, XXE and MIME format. The file manager also offers a two panel interface, an FTP-client, Drop-and-drag functionality, a built in file viewer and the ability to Split & Combine files. |
